One of the major disadvantages to "team" as a term of art for innovation in business is its unavoidable association with athletics and the consequent invocation of competition. Teams compete with each other; teammates compete for a starting job; applicants compete in order to make the team. In all these competitions, winning -- often at all costs -- takes precedence.
