Information technology is at a crossroads. According to industry analysts, IT is reaching maturity. Industry consolidation, flat IT spending, and the feeling that most organizations have about all the technology they can handle call the future of IT investments into question. CIOs stand at the middle of this intersection. The choices they make will determine the course of IT for the next 20 years. I have had the pleasure of talking with 30 CIOs over the past year, and each recognizes the need for a new agenda.
