Open source content management system (CMS) solutions are often driven by the same forces that apply to the CMS marketplace in general. Trends such as commoditization and consolidation, services (as opposed to products), and new forms of collaboration deserve a closer look. Of course, there are also issues specific to open source CMSs, so we will look at them, too. But first, let's talk about the term "open source."
