Translating Pain into Action

by Jim Brosseau

As an IT manager, one of your primary functions is to ensure that key information reaches its destination and is interpreted correctly. Project status flows up the chain and business direction flows down the chain, so that everyone is equipped to make the decisions they need to make. Often, simply passing along the information is insufficient -- it needs to be massaged and translated into a form where it is valuable (and recognizable as information) to the recipient. As organizations grow, this translation becomes critical to ensure that this growth is managed properly.
