In the Web 2.0 consumer world, social networks are very hot. In the enterprise, people are still struggling with tracking down expertise and getting it applied to projects. However, there are some new tools in the project manager's arsenal. Some large vendors have not only encouraged a social network within the enterprise, but they have also supported extensive profiles, which can be tagged (with keywords or terms), helping you find these elusive experts. In addition, some companies have been able to link "work products" to the profiles and also enable these documents and objects to be part of your search.
