Heavy Versus Light Methods for Developing IT Business Solutions

by Lou Russell

I am not a confident cook. My approach at big dinners is to write down everything I want to make, assemble all the ingredients, orchestrate an appropriate set of dependencies (what needs to come out of the oven first, and so on) and then implement with the goal that everything be hot and on the table, hopefully edible, at the same time. My mother-in-law, who was a wonderful cook, often had a similar plan, but her approach to implementation was much more flexible. She would adjust and flow to whatever she was making. She would leverage her experiences to deal with whatever came up. There was always food available the whole time so we could all snack as we waited for dinner to be ready. In fact, it seems to me we would eat with her all day.
