Agile Leaders Turn From Focus on Tasks and Choose Adaptation
If I think about team managers/leaders, I've worked with some who are good team managers but overly conforming, and others who are good at adapting but poor at self-organizing team leadership. A good agile manager must be both. Unfortunately, I've found a fair number of teams and their leaders who say, "We are agile," but they exhibit neither team leadership nor an adapting mindset. These are the teams that think agile is about some group of 1-n practices. Agility is about behavioral traits and I think most, if not all, of those individual traits (collaborative, influencing, transparency, innovative, etc.) can be gathered under the two encompassing traits of the abilities to adapt to change and lead a team.
