A Step Apart From Purity: Composite Agile Method and Strategy

Pure agile methods in real organizations do not work in practice. This is not because agility is not valuable. Far from it: project sponsors and other business stakeholders are seeking out agility together with development professionals. As Cutter Senior Consultant Rob Thomsett ("Agile Sponsors Seek Safety at Any Speed," 25 November 2009) alludes to, organizations are exploring agility as an alternative for project development in business and IT projects. An agile development approach promises the business the ability to put together products quickly and in myriad ways. Business processes can also be altered quickly to reflect market conditions.
