IT budgets are tight. All expenditures on equipment, training, and improvements are being scrutinized carefully. Getting budget approvals is taking longer, and more information is being asked for than ever before. New software projects require compelling justifications. At the same time, IT project managers and executives are being asked to find ways to cut costs and be more efficient. Improving software quality is a very effective way to reduce costs. In fact, evidence of the benefits of software quality improvement is mounting. However, quality improvement initiatives do require some initial investment. In addition, there are many practices and tools from which to choose. Which should you start with? Which will have the biggest bang for the buck?
