CMM Versus Agile Development: Religious Wars and Software Development

There is a new software methodology war currently going on between the supporters of the Software Engineering Institute's (SEI) Capability Maturity Model (CMM) and the supporters of what is being called agile development. This war, like other software methodology wars before, pits a somewhat radical, lightweight approach to software development (agile development) against an entrenched traditional approach (CMM). The outcome is likely to shape the development landscape for much of the next decade.
