It's Threat "AND" Opportunity ... Not "OR"
Discussions surrounding risk management for the last decade have taken on the duality of risk, expressed as threat or opportunity. Corporation after corporation, organization after organization, and manager after manager wrestle with this question: "How should I go about expressing opportunities when someone starts talking to me about risk from a threat context?" The answer may rest in our inherent desire to share information in an either/or context, rather than in a yin/yang perspective. It may be time to start looking at risk and opportunity as complementary rather than opposites.
