Getting New Business and IT Management Roles Right

by Bill Walton

Governance is not about the right organizational structures and decision processes; it's about making sure people know who is responsible for setting IT direction and taking IT actions. IT governance requires a clear statement of the roles that all managers play in making decisions about IT. It defines, both from business and IT perspectives, the management decisions we must make about IT and who makes them. These decisions can range from the strategic intentions of the company to how IT supports that strategy and the IT delivery strategies that best support the business strategies.
