The analysis of the desirability of outsourcing usually follows an approach similar to the phased approach for developing information systems. The stages of an outsourcing assessment include a feasibility study, detailed analysis of requirements, design of the relationship with a vendor through contract negotiation and contract provisions, building and implementing the relationship, ongoing operation of the relationship, and expiration of the relationship with its renewal in a succeeding contract or its termination.
