Save (and Make) Money as Software Services Expand
The services area is about both saving money and making money. The key message here is about variety. Whereas just a decade ago there was a limited set of well-understood service packages -- help desk support, data center management, and customer service centers -- today, there's a complete range of services provided by a large number of skilled vendors. In fact, nontechnology executives and managers should understand that many startup companies are outsourcing just about all of their technology to managed service and total solution providers (MSPs and TSPs) that host hardware, software, and communications. Legacy companies are outsourcing more of their operational and strategic technology.
