Divorce and Reconciliation Strategies in Outsourcing

Outsourcing continues to grow and evolve as companies attempt to focus on core competencies and employ partners to provide services outside main areas of expertise. Viewed initially as a means of providing expertise where none existed, the strategy is increasingly perceived as a cost savings and efficiency-building methodology. Companies are moving from the so-called megadeals, with entire IT facilities outsourced to IBM or EDS, to a combination of outsourcing partners operating and providing specialized services in a variety of different service areas.
