Getting on Offshoring's Case

by John Berry

The business case might be the single most important document for any project-based work. Think about all the useful things a business case accomplishes: it tells the story of why a certain investment should be made; it explicates all the benefits the investment is likely to deliver -- mostly in the form of cost savings and operational performance improvements -- if executed correctly; and perhaps most importantly, it provides a roadmap of the essential activities required to reach critical milestones along the path to investment objectives. The business case is potentially a Swiss army knife of decision support and operational guidance.
