Outsourcing: The Procurement Dialogs
It's often the case that what we have come to accept as best practices need to be periodically reviewed against industry experience. Outsourcing -- though acceptance is growing, and there are many instances of success -- is still in its infancy. Many of the techniques that are used for outsourcing procurement have been imported from other procurement systems. Industry forums often reflect both objective and subjective dissatisfaction with the results of outsourcing. Severe breakdowns in the process may lead to litigation, which of course is the ultimate indictment of the process: if the parties had achieved their expectations and business goals, they would not be frittering that value away through expensive litigation.
