Outsourcing has become an increasingly popular option for an ever-widening range of business and IT operations. At the same time, traditional outsourcing areas have grown in depth and complexity. These factors have resulted in a proliferation of vendors, with many organizations needing to manage numerous outsourcing contracts. This proliferation of contracts has led to added cost, management difficulties, and standardization issues. Without centralized management, outsourcing contracts are likely to be initiated at the individual department or regional level where the necessary experience in negotiation and contract oversight does not exist.
