Building a business case to justify a company investment is an old, sometimes neglected, management tool that is attracting renewed saliency because of its pertinence to business process offshoring. Where the traditional business case has been used as a kind of binary yes-or-no decision trigger, the offshoring business case has a slightly different -- and perhaps more critical -- function as a living, breathing operational manifesto and learning guide that chronicles the quality of decision making, the emergence of unexpected costs, and the execution of work throughout the entire offshoring initiative lifecycle.
