Employing Sourcing Through an SOA Model: Utilizing Pragmatic IT Governance for Improvements

by Tushar K. Hazra

In my previous three Executive Updates on this topic, I discussed (1) potential impacts and benefits of employing sourcing through an SOA model [3]; (2) leveraging the power of the Model Driven Architecture (MDA) approach in building sourcing relationships [2]; and (3) applying the dynamics of collaboration to procure a systematic delivery of sourcing results [1]. In this Update, I address another significant element of employing sourcing through an SOA model: a pragmatic IT governance model. Such a model allows an enterprise to substantiate the aspects of improving process implementation for sourcing initiatives; complying with potential mandates, policies, and procedures; and enforcing the appropriate level of management and control to reap the true benefits of sourcing initiatives.
