Things That Make Us Really Smart

Several years ago, Donald Norman wrote a wonderful book called Things That Make Us Smart, ergo the title for this series of Advisors. Norman described himself as a "cognitive scientist," researching the things (cognitive methods, tools, and artifacts) that humans have created to make it possible for them to be more creative, more productive, and more informed. Norman's book appeared at about the time the term "knowledge management" was entering the vocabulary, and people were becoming more and more interested in things like "intellectual capital." But it was also before the Internet and the Web.
