Clearly, software development has become more and more complex over the last 10 or 15 years. The first taste of this was client-server development in the 1990s. The user interfaces were slicker than those for older environments, but the development time was slow and there were new problems maintaining the distributed software on the clients and all of the attendant servers. And just as we had begun to solve the new problems posed by client-server development, along came browser-based, Internet development.
