The Web has been constantly evolving. The nature and structure of the Web, as well as the way we use it, have been continuously changing; extending opportunities for the IT community. The Web's evolution had been exerting pressure on IT professionals and executives and businesses. We can set the Web's evolution -- past, current, and anticipated -- into four stages: Web 1.0, Web 2.0, Web 3.0, and Web 4.0. Let's examine each of them.
