What Was Microsoft Thinking? Part 2
In my last Trends Advisor (see "What Was Microsoft Thinking?" 6 March 2008), I took Microsoft to task for its latest set of mainline products, particularly Word 2007. One of the e-mails I got back said that Microsoft had done extensive requirements gathering and that the latest version of Word 2007 had 90% coverage of all of the major functions people requested. I suspect that is right. Indeed, the problem with most word-processing, presentation, and spreadsheet programs is that they are indeed "feature rich."
