Say what you like about Barack Obama and his campaign, all the pundits and commentators have marveled at the ability of his campaign to leverage the latest technology in the pursuit of the presidency. First and foremost, the Obama campaign was able to raise more money from more people than ever before -- US $600-plus million. In the longest, most expensive US presidential campaign in history, this advantage made it possible to visit more places, run more ads, and fund more local campaign workers than his better-known competitors.
