As virtually every CIO and IT manager knows today, outsourcing is more than just the hot new thing in North America and Western Europe; it's rapidly becoming a mainstream activity. But while the cost savings and other benefits are real and documented, some managers are beginning to worry that (as with so many other IT trends in the past) the media is beginning to overhype the concept, and senior management may be unaware of the risks and problems associated with outsourcing -- especially offshore outsourcing.
