Beyond Web Services to Service-Oriented Platforms

The introduction of Web services a few years ago brought some much-needed excitement to an otherwise sagging IT industry. Not surprisingly, the evolution of the Web services market has echoed that of most new advancements in IT. First was the creation of the market. Following the initial introduction of Web services, the hype machines kicked into action, proclaiming it the cure for just about everything that ails IT. Soon, every vendor was jumping on the Web services bandwagon, claiming some type of Web services support.
