In this, the second Executive Update in a series of three on software IP, we will look at the various IP incentive programs, and we will consider whether they are justified from a revenue-generating perspective. We will then examine some of the more common problems encountered by software development organizations when attempting to promote the creation and protection of software IP. Finally, we will contemplate the extent to which the encouragement of inventiveness and the protection of intellectual property are a strategic goal among software companies.
