Green Requirements for IT and Telecom

As environmental concerns filter into business and industry, IT is coming under scrutiny. Issues include power use and reliance on fossil fuels; disposal of electronic components, which include toxic waste; and effects on other business processes. IT is also seen as an important part of the solution, both within the firm and on a macro level in managing energy use and greenhouse gas emission in industry. It is becoming good policy to consider green issues from a public relations perspective. But, critical to acceptance, most green measures are likely to also result in long-term cost savings through reduced energy costs and more efficient use of equipment.
