From the Mass Pike

From the Mass Pike take the I-95 (Route 128) North exit in Newton.

Follow for about 6 miles and take the Route 2 East exit (Arlington/Belmont).

After 5 miles or so, you will go over the top of "Belmont Hill" and see a panorama of Boston before you. Continue down the hill, still on Route 2 East for another 2 miles or so until you approach one of the dreaded Massachusetts "rotaries." ("Abandon hope all ye who enter here... ") Get in the left lane and bear left at the rotary onto Route 16 East (Alewife Brook Parkway).

Proceed along Route 16 East for about a mile and go straight through the first light where Massachusetts Avenue crosses (Mobil station on the right). Proceed along Alewife Brook Parkway (Route 16 East) for about another mile to an intersection at Broadway. You will have passed a large cemetery on your left.

Turn left on Broadway into Arlington (as you turn, you'll see a shopping plaza on the right on Alewife Brook Parkway with a "Foodmaster" supermarket.). Go past a 3-story brick office building (the Teamsters Credit Union), and turn right into the parking lot of 37 Broadway just before a 2-story yellow brick building. The Cutter name is on the sign you pass on the way into the parking lot. The entrance to Cutter is at the back of the building. Go up the stairs to the second floor, turn left at the top of the stairs and you'll find us straight ahead at the end of the hall. ("Enter without fear all ye who enter here...")

From Boston/Logan Airport

From Boston via I-93, follow I-93 North for 5 or 6 miles and take the Route 16 ("Arlington/Medford") exit.

Bear left on this long exit following the "Arlington" signs and heed the 30 mph speed limit.

At the end of the exit, go straight through a blinking yellow light and you are on Mystic Valley Parkway.

After 3 stoplights on this crooked road, you come to a dreaded Massachusetts rotary ("Abandon hope all ye who enter here") and Mystic Valley Parkway bends to the right. Go straight through the rotary onto Alewife Brook Parkway and continue past an MDC swimming pool and stadium on the right, then a playground and to a light at the intersection with Broadway where there's a "Foodmaster" on the left.

Turn right on Broadway and you'll go past a 3-story red brick office building (the Teamsters Credit Union) to 37 Broadway, a two-story yellow brick building, and turn right into the parking lot. The Cutter name is on the sign you pass on the way into the parking lot.

The entrance to Cutter is at the back of the building. Go up the stairs to the second floor, turn left at the top of the stairs and you'll find us straight ahead at the end of the hall. ("Enter without fear for all are welcome here...").

From South Station

From South Station (Amtrak) in Boston, you can either take a taxi or the subway ("T").

  • If you choose a taxi, follow the directions for "From Boston via I-93" above.

  • If you choose the subway ("T"), walk through the South Station terminal and look for signs to the Red Line of the "T" and the escalator down to the subway station. Choose the "inbound" trains that go to the Alewife Station. You'll need a $2.00 CharlieTicket from either the machines or the vendor at the turnstiles. Once on the platform for the Alewife trains, take any train and get off at the 7th stop, the "Davis Square" station (the last three stations you'll visit are, in succession, Harvard, Porter, and Davis).

After passing through the exit turnstiles, turn right and go up the escalator, then bear right through the doors to Holland Street. There should be cabs waiting on the street. If none are in sight, walk down Holland Street to the right two short blocks, crossing Dover Street and stopping at Day Street where the cabs will be lined up. Tell the driver to go to "37 Broadway in Arlington via Teele Square," a distance of about one mile. Local details of 37 Broadway are given at the end of the two sets of directions above.
