Software-intensive consumer products are subject to product recall after distribution, manufacturing line stoppage during production, and manufacturing delays prior to production. Example products would include automobile cruise control units, microwave ovens, and cellular telephones. Production delays and product recalls are moving the cost of software failures to new plateaus.
