Rick Harris is the chief technology officer at DTE Energy, a Detroit-based diversified energy company involved in the development and management of energy-related businesses and services nationwide. He leads a progressive IT organization of approximately 400 people involved with software engineering, enterprise architecture, advanced technology and IT governance. His recent initiatives include business analytics, quantitative process improvement, service orientation, and user experience. Prior to DTE Energy, Rick worked for GE, ABB, Xerox and GM in factory automation, product development and information technology roles.

At GM, Rick was the Director of Application Development for GM OnStar during the years when OnStar crossed the one-, two- and three-million customer milestones. He also led GM's North American Systems Development Factory during global outsourcing and process improvement initiatives.

As the chief engineer for Xerox's Internet Business Group, Rick led architecture, software development and production operations to define the corporation's online brand, user experience and technical infrastructure. His leadership of a global enterprise application integration group demonstrated an ability to deliver business value as an early adopter of new technology.

Rick has a Masters Degree in Computer Science from Rochester Institute of Technology and a Bachelor Degree in Computer Aided Engineering and Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University.
