Steven R. Kursh is a Senior Consultant with Cutter Consortium's Business-IT Strategies, Enterprise Risk Management & Governance, and Sourcing & Vendor Relationships practices. He develops and teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in Finance, Business Overview (a multidisciplinary course), and Telecommunications (in a Masters Degree program offered by the College of Business, College of Engineering, and College of Computer Science) at Northeastern University. He has earned several teaching awards, including the Beta Gamma Sigma award for best teacher in the College of Business and the University Excellence in Teaching Award.
Professor Kursh has extensive experience in computer software and the Internet, including software development, software project management, contract performance, intellectual property, and valuation. He was the founder of a software company that was acquired by McGraw-Hill, and he is the author of articles, software products, and cases. His book, Minding the Corporate Checkbook: A Manager's Guide for Executing Successful Business Investments, was recently published by Financial Times Prentice-Hall. Professor Kursh's industry consulting clients include ACS (NYSE-traded), AT"T, ATX Communications (publicly-traded), Citibank, Freddie Mac, Hartford, HP, IBM, IDT (NYSE-traded), Sun Microsystems, Telcordia Technologies; closely-held regional businesses; and a New England-based private equity firm with over one billion dollars under management. He has been a mentor capitalist for several e-commerce and software ventures.
Professor Kursh received his doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania and his AB from Boston College, Magna Cum Laude, Scholar of the College. He has received research funding from the GE Foundation, the Kauffman Foundation, and two federal government agencies. Professor Kursh previously served as academic coordinator of MBA Programs and Director of the MBA Consulting Team Project.
