Masa Maeda Senior Consultant

Masa K. Maeda is a Senior Consultant with Cutter Consortium's Agile Product & Project Management practice with an emphasis in Lean-Agile. He is the creator of Lean Value Innovation and a pioneering figure in the Lean-Agile Kanban community who excels in agile project management and Scrum. He is President of Shojiki Solutions, providing coaching and training in the financial, healthcare, software development, IT, devops, and remote education industries. Dr. Maeda is also an associate of David J Anderson & Associates, the creator of Kanban for technology. He continuously promotes Lean-Agile and related methodologies in Mexico, Central and South America, and most recently Spain. Previously, Dr. Maeda was a founding member for four Silicon Valley startups that pioneered online socialization, online entertainment, and genomics/proteomics. In addition, he did R&D at Apple.

Currently, Dr. Maeda teaches Lean Value Innovation at UC Berkeley Extension and is a registered provider of Lean-Kanban University. He has also taught at the University of Tokushima in Japan, the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and the Arturo Rosenblueth Foundation. Dr. Maeda is the founder of the San Francisco Limited WIP Society and a member of the Coordinating Committee of the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the Agile Project Leadership Network (APLN). He is the Lean-Agile Editor for Software Guru and newsletter contributor to the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI). Dr. Maeda has a PhD in artificial intelligence and a master's degree in intelligent systems engineering and information science from the University of Tokushima in Japan; he has a bachelor's degree in computer engineering from the National University of Mexico.
