Alexandre Rodrigues

Alexandre Rodrigues is a Senior Consultant with Cutter Consortium's Business-IT Strategies and Agile Software Development & Project Management practices and a contributor to these Advisory Services. Currently, Alexandre focuses on the implementation of organizational Project Offices and Earned Value Management Systems. His clients include a wide range of international organizations, such as Volkswagen, Motorola, Microsoft, BHP Billiton in Australia, and NATO C3 in Holland. Previously, he worked for several years in project management for the military and consulting industries in the UK and the US, where he has extensively used System Dynamics simulation modelling to analyze the complex dynamics of large projects and programs.
Dr. Rodrigues has over a decade of teaching experience, having lectured on Project Management- and System Dynamics-related topics to undergraduate and Master students throughout various universities in Portugal and the UK. In 1996, Dr. Rodrigues was co-organizer of a NATO Advanced Research Workshop, held in Kiev, on the subject of Managing and Modelling Complex Projects. He was founding president of the PMI Portugal Chapter and is a currently a Component Mentor Europe. He belonged to PMI's PMBoK® 3rd edition revision team, and also participated in the team that developed the OPM3® (PMI's Organizational Project Management Maturity Model).
Dr. Rodrigues publishes regularly in scientific and business journals and has been a guest speaker in international conferences and other project management events. He served as guest editor for a Cutter IT Journal issue on multicultural project management. Dr. Rodrigues received the 1996 Mike Simpson Award from the Operational Research Society (UK) for research developed in the fields of project management and System Dynamics modelling. He holds a five-year "licenciate" degree in Systems and Informatics Engineering from the University of Minho (Portugal) and a PhD in Project Management and System Dynamics from the University of Strathclyde (UK). He is a certified Project Management Professional, a Chartered Member of the Portuguese Association of Engineering, and a member of the British Association for Project Management (APM).
