Lou Mazzucchelli Joins the Cutter Business Technology Council

Lou Mazzucchelli is the newest member of the Cutter Business Technology Council. He joins IT experts Robert D. Austin, Christine Davis, Tom DeMarco, Lynne Ellyn, Jim Highsmith, Tim Lister, Ken Orr and Ed Yourdon.

In addition to being named a Cutter Consortium Fellow, Lou Mazzucchelli is a venture partner at Ridgewood Capital, where he is a director of Audio Audit and Bluesocket; he is also a founder of Artemis JSM, a NYC-based music development and licensing company, and a director of Forgent Networks. Prior to joining Ridgewood Capital, Lou was an investment banker at Gerard Klauer Mattison, which he joined in 1996 as its PC and digital media technology analyst. He was named to the Wall Street Journal all-star team in 1998 and in 1999 was one of nine "Home-Run Hitters" analysts (out of 2,400) recognized for his stock-picking performance. Previously, Lou spent 13 years leading Cadre Technologies, a pioneering computer-aided software engineering tools company that he founded in 1982 and grew to become one of the top 50 US ISVs before its sale in 1986. During this period, he was listed in the "Top 200 in the Software Industry" by Software Magazine. Lou began his career in data communications, moving to IT management and consulting before founding Cadre.

Established by Cutter Consortium to help spot emerging trends in IT, digital technology, and in the marketplace, the Cutter Business Technology Council approaches the identification of important new trends using a process adapted from the United States Supreme Court. While other analyst firms prognosticate without explaining how they reached their conclusions, making the whole process seem like guesswork, the Council's strongly worded opinions and concurring and dissenting opinions display the thinking behind the predictions, including and explaining any contrary views. After Opinions are signed, Council Fellows add a final section of recommendations and strategic implications, indicating how organizations can profit from and take advantage of each new development. The Council's members are IT specialists whose ideas have become important building blocks of today's wide-band, digitally connected, global economy.
