Authors Federico Pigni and Elisabetta Raguseo found that external factors didn't play a major limiting role in limiting the implementation of real-time digital data streams (DDS), but rather, "the limit to DDS exploitation is the organization itself ... internal organizational readiness plays a decisive role in contrasting the success of real-time DDS initiatives. The evidence that the surveyed companies do not consider technical skills and commitment from top management as great inhibitors suggests that managers are aware of the potentiality of a real-time DDS initiative but need to be convinced of its benefits in the organizational setting."
