Q: To what extent are you actively pursuing IT consumerization?
According to Jim Love, although a fifth of respondents have launched IT consumerization initiatives, "not all these projects are official. All too often CIOs discover they have BYOD going on in their organizations when a senior exec brings in his or her iOS or Android device. When examining the number of projects in implementation planning (16% of companies are reporting that they are planning implementation), we see that this area is on the high end of any trend in the survey. But the key number to watch is in those companies that are in active experimentation. Almost 40% of surveyed companies report that they are in early experimentation for smartphones and 31% at that stage for consumerization. Given the speed at which BYOD has moved, and the lack of preparation by companies, watch out for CIOs and IT areas playing catch up for the conceivable future."
