Q: For which tablet platform(s) is your organization developing, or will it develop, mobile BI applications?

Our research shows that organizations will end up using both smartphones and tablets -- as well as a mix of vendor mobile platforms (e.g., iPad/iOS, Android, Windows, BlackBerry) -- in order to meet their various mobile BI application needs. To best deal with this variety, Curt Hall asserts, "Organizations should aim to implement a single-authoring environment to help eliminate the need to recreate reports and dashboards. Such an "author once, interact anywhere" capability is important because it provides a single, consistent BI experience (e.g., apps and UI) across various end-user environments (e.g., desktop, laptop, tablets, and smartphones). Fortunately, many vendors' mobile BI tools utilize a single-authoring environment, which helps reduce the need to modify or duplicate reports for various mobile devices and different applications."
