Q: What do you see as the major impediments to your organization using Hadoop?

The three biggest barriers to Hadoop adoption found in our survey were not surprising to Curt Hall, since the technology is fairly new to most mainstream organizations. Hall "believe(s) that the impact of these top three stumbling blocks will begin to decline over the next 12-18 months. The vendors are all moving fast to correct these issues, as are the consultancies, both of which see big opportunities in offering mainstream enterprises help with Hadoop implementation. Almost all Hadoop distribution vendors now offer training programs to teach corporate developers on using Hadoop. Moreover, major enterprise players such as IBM, Oracle, EMC, and Teradata have all recognized the importance of Hadoop, and Big Data in general, and are offering training and implementation services (or have partnered with the Hadoop vendors for this purpose). In particular, these enterprise players are poised to have a significant impact on the greater adoption of Hadoop into the mainstream enterprise."
