Coaching Community

by David Hussman

Everyday, more projects are following an agile development path. Along this path project leaders encounter many new concepts, practices, and roles. More often than not, agile projects contain someone playing the role of coach. This coach guides the development community as it bonds around a set of agile principles and practices that increases its ability to consistently deliver working software. This Executive Report contains information gathered from working coaches, interviews with agile sponsors, and the author's experiences coaching projects of varying sizes in the US, Canada, Russia, and Ukraine. Drawing on this material, the report discusses the many ways that coaches employ agile practices and principles to grow and sustain healthy project communities that are able to produce better products in more predictable and humane ways.
