Managing Offshore Development: Finding and Retaining a Development Team

by Stacey Berlow

This Executive Update is one of a series that taps into my recent experiences with setting up and managing software development teams in India and China. One such project consisted of the development of a patient management and monitoring system currently deployed in more than 60 hospitals and clinics in Africa. In this project, the domain experts are physicians and statisticians located in the US and Africa, the software development team is located in India, and the end users are clinicians in small to very large clinics in Africa. The deployment of this patient management system has been very successful, and major enhancements to the application (with the original software development team) continue.
