IT Outsourcing: Building Requirements

Once a decision has been made to outsource one or more IT services -- to reduce costs, improve service quality, provide adequate technical support, or for other previously identified reasons and always as an integral part of the business plan -- it is crucial to clearly delineate the requirements that will shape the depth and responsibilities of the contract. To do that, it is useful to establish a baseline for the initial conditions under which the service is provided.
