Roundtable

The Coexistence of Agile Practices and Enterprise Architecture

9 May 2006
8:00 - 9:00

Parkview Room

Presenter: Jim Highsmith, Mike Rosen Jim Watson

While enterprise architecture (EA) and agile methods (AM) share the same ultimate goal of providing valuable and timely software to the enterprise, execution issues are tricky. EA and AM are very different in their scope, audience, communications mechanisms, and views of stability, change, and plans. The challenge is using these differences to mutual advantage so that they can be valued and incorporated into an integrated software development capability that is responsive to enterprise concerns and achieves rapid, high-quality, flexible implementation and delivery. Cutter Senior Consultants Jim Watson, Mike Rosen, and Jim Highsmith discuss what AM and EA each value about themselves and analyzes what each can offer to and value in the other.
