The current reduction of R&D funding by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) for long-term computer science research coupled with a corresponding reduction in computer science R&D funding by many of the largest US high-tech companies puts the future of US technology at risk. If this process is not reversed, the US's preeminent position in the world of high-tech will be increasingly challenged.
