Visualization in Search, Recognition, and Inference

Imagine if we had all of the visual processing capabilities we have as human beings, but no language abilities. What would we be like? I asked this of a colleague, and she quipped, "Like my neighbor!" Joking aside, language is clearly the dominant feature that defines us as human beings. We describe things, convey knowledge, and solve problems through language. However, researchers are discovering that language, aside from being complex in and of itself, is dependent upon and intertwined with visual and nonverbal processing centers in the brain.
