Amin Khodaei is Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Denver, where he has also served as Department Chair. In this capacity, Dr. Khodaei doubled the department’s undergraduate enrollment, launched a professional corporate master’s degree program in systems engineering (with specializations in system and space) in collaboration with Lockheed-Martin, initiated multiple industry relationships, and led the efforts in modernizing the ECE curriculum. His research focuses on the climate crisis, the grid of the future, and advanced technologies to modernize the grid, including artificial intelligence and quantum computing. Prior to this role, Dr. Khodaei was Senior Research Associate at the Illinois Institute of Technology’s Robert W. Galvin Center for Electricity Innovation and Research Assistant Professor at the University of Houston. He has authored/coauthored more than 200 peer-reviewed technical papers and has advised over 40 graduate students and postdoc associates over the past 10 years. Dr. Khodaei has served on the editorial board of IEEE Transactions and has chaired the technical committee of the 2018 IEEE PES Transmission & Distribution Conference and Exhibition. He also served as Technical Chair of IEEE’s Power & Energy Society’s general meetings in 2022 and has been an active member of IEEE since 2008. Dr. Khodaei earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of Tehran, Iran; a master of science degree from Sharif University of Technology, Iran; and a PhD from the Illinois Institute of Technology, all in electrical engineering.
