IT Performance Measurement and the CIO Dashboard -- Measuring the Value Contribution of IT

Length of workshop:

Two days

General Overview:

Understanding your company's investment in - and return on - information technology (IT) is key to managing business risk and maximizing value from IT. Enable that understanding by creating a CIO Dashboard of performance measures that reports IT results in an easy-to-understand format. An effective dashboard must be based on a solid foundation of Business and Technology Objectives, Critical Success Factors (CSFs), and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). This workshop focuses on techniques used to identify measures including: the Balanced IT Scorecard, the IT Process Model, the IT Value Proposition and the IT Performance Measurement Program. We will discuss the features and benefits of a comprehensive CIO Dashboard implementation, as well as case studies and examples of successful dashboards developed by organizations.

Leader: Kenneth Rau
Workshop Goals:

Participants will learn to establish a program of performance measurement for their IT organization and implement a CIO Dashboard for reporting results that meet the following key objectives:

  • Link business strategy and IT objectives
  • Establish an IT value proposition
  • Improve communication between users and providers of technology services
  • Enhance IT management capabilities and controls
  • Ensure technology performance meets expectations and operates within acceptable parameters

And organizations with existing IT performance measurement programs can discover ways to improve and extend their programs.
