AI as a Platform for New Products

AI as a Platform for New Products

Artificial intelligence is reaching into more complex areas of decision making, including product innovation. In this Arthur D. Little bootcamp, powered by Cutter Consortium, you'll discover the lessons that one organization learned about using AI as a platform for new product development.

Applying the business school-style case study method, Prof. Darren Meister will lead you through the story of Jim Martin, Director of Global Creative Intelligence at McCormick & Company, Inc., the multinational flavors and spices company. By following Martin's journey to examine how McCormick could roll out using AI in the company’s product development initiatives  — via the case and also directly from Jim Martin, who will join Prof. Meister on the first day of this bootcamp — you'll discover why and how this path could benefit your organization. You'll learn:

  • Ways to instill trust on the part of product developers in AI findings
  • How it's possible to teach and train AI to become smarter
  • The obstacles to launching AI-engineered products, and how to overcome them

In the Arthur D. Little bootcamp, AI as a Platform for New Products, Prof Darren Meister will help you understand how to achieve balance between incremental and radical innovation, and how product developers can integrate AI into product development and innovation while avoiding the tunnel vision than can sometimes result from relying on AI. This virtual bootcamp delivers insight in short bursts, with rich discussion during instruction, case study reflection and breakout sessions with your peers from across the globe and from many different industries. All this combines to deliver a high impact experience in a condensed format.

Day 1 SEE YOUR LOCAL TIME  December 7, 9am-11am ICT | 11am-1pm JST | 1pm-3pm AEDT ; December 6, 9pm-11pm EST | 6pm-8pm PST
McCormick & Company, Inc: Leveraging AI

During this first 2-hour session, Prof. Meister and Jim Martin will dive into the case of why and how McCormick sought to improve product innovation with AI. Through both full-group and peer breakout sessions, you’ll explore the challenges McCormick faced in preparing the organization to rollout and accept AI as a viable product development platform. You'll discover both technical and cultural barriers that the global organization needed to address, from data consistency and bias to ensuring that AI isn't played like a video game.

Day 2 SEE YOUR LOCAL TIME  December 8, 9am-11am ICT | 11am-1pm JST | 1pm-3pm AEDT ; December 7, 9pm-11pm EST | 6pm-8pm PST

During the second 2-hour session of the bootcamp, Prof. Meister will expand the focus. In breakout sessions with your team, you'll have the opportunity to brainstorm the potential innovation opportunities that using AI as a platform can open for your organization, as well as the obstacles that might arise. Each team will have the opportunity to present their strawmen to the rest of the group for feedback. You'll emerge with the foundation to begin to implement an AI platform/learning machine that continuously and consistently provides feedback to and takes feedback from product developers.

If your organization is interested in a strategy that enables you to elevate every product developer to the skill level of your best product developers and accelerate your rate of innovation, don't to miss this executive education opportunity.
