Q: Does your organization integrate text/unstructured information into its data warehousing environment to support its BI efforts?
Curt Hall predicts that the same trends he's seen in social media analysis will play out in the integration of text/unstructured data into data warehousing environment. "Not only have the established data integration vendors added unstructured/semistructured data handling capabilities to their tools, but we are also seeing the introduction of new tools for this purpose. The most important is Hadoop, which excels at handling unstructured data. Most of the analytic database vendors have added capabilities to allow data warehouses built with their offerings to take advantage of Hadoop's unstructured data processing functionality, as have many of the BI vendors."
